PASTOR'S CORNER

A TRUTHFUL HARVEST

26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them.30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’” – Matthew 13:25-30

In this parable Jesus described how the wheat and tares end up together. The wheat is good to harvest and the tare is a weed that should not be bound to the wheat. When Farmers harvest the crop, they perform a task called Wheat Thrashing. They literally throw the wheat and tares up in the air and thrash them repeatedly so that the wheat and tare separate. This is hard and detailed work that has to be done so the wheat can be collected into the barn by itself.

We are in a season of Harvest and The Lord is harvesting. He is separating the wheat from the tares. Are you willing to be able to see the weeds that have grown in your life so that you can be blessed by the goodness of God? If we have an honest and just God, then He will allow us to see and work on ourselves to receive the plentiful wheat in our barns. It’s good to have joy in our blessings but it’s also important for us to see the areas in our lives that need to be dealt with.

The Lord is pulling the weeds out that the enemy has brought upon us. God is showing us exactly what He is doing so that we understand how we can obtain our healing. He’s saying, look I’m being open with you and it’s not pretty. He wants us to see it, to truly recognize it so we can understand that He is a just God. He does nothing in secret, He hides nothing from you!

The Lord doesn't want us to be fooled by our mistakes, to keep making them repeatedly and not being able to move forward because we didn’t realize what we were doing. He’s being that truthful friend with us that is giving us the truth that is hard to swallow. The truth that we don’t want to hear at times. The “grin and bear it” truth, so we can work on it!

So, we see that harvesting requires work, hard work. Once we are able to recognize our faults and put in that “wheat thrashing” work, then we can sit together with God in His presence and enjoy the labor! After He's pulled all the weeds and we’ve dealt with them one at time, we will no longer be reflecting on the pain and past, yet we will be able to reflect on His goodness. Thank God that He is honest and forthright with us.

Don’t let the weeds talk for you, receive your blessings!! You will see the Glory of God in your Harvest if you allow him to flow through your heart. To truly dig deep!! There are lessons to be learned, but how can we learn them if we don’t listen. If we don’t allow our teacher the time to teach?
